One History, Many Perspectives
MACORP, Inc. contacted me with a very unique opportunity. This nonprofit was in the early stages of developing a platform for tourists visiting the Northern Neck region of Virginia. The Northern Neck Hidden History Trails is a site dedicated to documenting United States history rooted in the region. On the site, visitors can customize hiking and trail experiences based on their individual interest in historical events. And since the region is home to Native American tribes, descendants of enslaved people, and descendants of colonial settlers, this site gives patrons a 360-degree perspective of life in the Northern Neck, which varied based on culture and identity.

For this project, I worked with MACORP, Inc. leadership to develop a storyline that honors the historical figures, acknowledges and reflects the sacred value of the land, and celebrates the people of the region who have been as forgiving as they are remorseful – reaching beyond cultural and historical differences to create an attraction and unique tourism experience.
